Learning Elders Arts

Program

Art Exhibits,

Open Houses, 

and Performances

L.E.A.P. (Learning Elders Arts Program) funding enables local seniors' groups, organizations or facilities to hire professional and semi-professional artists to teach various artistic disciplines such visual and media arts, dance, instrumental or vocal music, theatre or musical theatre, literary arts, and folk arts and crafts to seniors. The group making the application locates a partner artist and together they complete the application. 

Past L.E.A.P. programs include:

 

Music, Theatre and Literary Arts

Musical production, choir group, beginning guitar, beginning ukulele, group sing song (manors or nursing homes), storytelling, journaling, poetry and prose, performing arts, song club, and theatre productions.

 

Visual Arts, Media Arts and Crafts

Watercolor painting, pottery, soapstone carving, sculpture, drawing, costume creation, scrapbooking, felting, hand appliques, woodworking, ceramics, quilting, basket weaving, acrylic painting, multimedia card creation, flower arranging, counted cross stitch, furniture refinishing, enameling, upcycling, rug hooking, sewing, Swedish weaving, stained glass, wood carving, fabric sculpting, jewelry making, and multimedia arts.

The L.E.A.P. program is administered by the PEI Senior Citizens' Federation and was placed on hold during COVID. We anticipate it will return in 2024/25.
