ARTICLE SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
The Voice is the monthly newsletter of the PEI Senior Citizens' Federation and is a lifestyle magazine
containing timely articles on travel, health, food, finances, relationships, nostalgia, retirement, and Island
history. In addition, we publish some poetry by Island authors. The Voice welcomes the submission of
original articles (not taken from other sources) by seniors, news items from seniors clubs, and articles of
interest to Island seniors.
Articles should not contain political/controversial issues, except as they relate to history. We do not publish
press releases, advertisements, sales letters, or other promotional pieces (to advertise in The Voice, see
below.) In addition, articles may not contain obscenity, or any material that would promote intolerance
against any group. The content of articles may not be inflammatory, defamatory, or libelous.
Please submit articles via e-mail or on disk in Word format, typed single spaced with no paragraph
indentation in Times New Roman, 12 pt. Original, concrete details and short paragraphs are essential.
Articles should be proofed and checked for accuracy. Preference is given to articles under 500 words, but
articles should not exceed 800 words. Type-written or legible handwritten articles may be mailed or
delivered to the Federation office.
We do not guarantee publication of submissions. The Voice reserves the right to accept or reject
material and to edit for content, style, grammar and space. If seasonal articles are not published due to
space restrictions, articles may be held for future editions. Submission of an article indicates your
acceptance of these conditions.
Articles should include the writer's name, address and phone number, and should be submitted by the
author.
COMMUNITY EVENT NOTICES
The Voice publishes community event notices that are of interest to seniors. Notices should be brief
(under 50 words) and include the name of the event, where it will be held, when it will be held and a contact
name and telephone number. We ask that announcements be submitted in publication ready format.
Please do not submit posters, lengthy articles or PDF files. We do not publish press releases. These
should be submitted to the Guardian newspaper. Due to space limitations, community events beneficial to
seniors will be given priority over general event notices.
Publication-ready event notices should be sent to island.voice@yahoo.ca
FEDERATION SENIORS' CLUB EVENTS
The Voice publishes listings of activities that take place at our seniors' clubs and member organizations
across the Island. We ask our member organizations to submit their monthly events on or before the 15th
of the month preceding publication. Monthly events may be phoned in to the Federation office. For
additional information, contact Barbara Young at the PEI Senior Citizens' Federation office, 902-368-9008
or toll free 1-877-368-9008.
DEADLINE
Articles and community event notices must be received no later than the 15th of the month preceding
publication. The deadline for the January issue is December 10th. Submissions should be sent to the
attention of Managing Editor Linda Jean Nicholson at the Federation office.
