LEAP (Learning Elders Arts Program)
Funded by the PEI Department of Tourism and Culture under Minister Robert Vessey,
the LEAP program is administered by the PEI Senior Citizens' Federation.  LEAP is a
project-based initiative designed to provide Island seniors with the opportunity to
learn various artistic disciplines from local artists.  The program enables local
seniors’ groups to hire professional and semi-professional artists to teach various
artistic disciplines such visual and media arts, dance, instrumental or vocal music,
theatre or musical theatre, literary arts, and folk arts and crafts.
PEI Friendly Visitors Program
The PEI Senior Citizens’ Federation Inc. is working on improving the lives of
isolated Island seniors through its PEI Friendly Visitors Program.  The goal of this
program is to provide friendly support to individuals who are socially isolated or are
limited in their ability to access community resources.  Contact the Federation office
if you would like to sign up as a volunteer or if you would like to refer a senior to our
program.  
Voice For Island Seniors
The PEI Senior Citizens’ Federation Inc. publishes The Voice For Island Seniors, a
monthly supplement in the Guardian newspaper written for and by Island seniors.  
Submissions of articles of interest to seniors are welcome.  This publication is a
partnership between the Guardian newspaper and the Federation.
Local Seniors’ Clubs
Senior Citizens’ Clubs are located across Prince Edward Island.  Local clubs host
regular meetings, community projects, and social gatherings for their members.  For
information on how to contact the seniors’ club closest to you, call the PEI Senior
Citizens’ Federation office.
55 Alive Driver Refresher Course
Developed by the Canada Safety Council, the PEI Senior Citizens’ Federation Inc.
administers a 55 Alive Driver Refresher Course.  This 6-hour classroom course is
designed to help Canadians 55 years and over to maintain their independence and
their driving privileges.  This program is a partnership with the Province of PEI
Transportation and Public Works, Highway Safety Division.

- Voice for Island Seniors
The Island Family Trees Program
The Island Family Trees Program is designed to provide Island seniors with an
introduction to preserving family history by offering four classes in beginning
genealogy, storytelling, scrap booking and history.  A different area is discussed at
each two-hour session.  This program is free of charge to seniors (age 50 and over)
and features speakers and instructors who are top of their fields.  
The Computing For Seniors Program
Initially funded with a New Horizons grant, the Computing For Seniors Program will
continue under the umbrella of funding from the provincial government.  This program
teaches seniors basic computer skills including internet, email, Skype, Facebook,
digital photography.  Three levels of courses are offered at locations across the
Island.  All courses are geared toward beginners. Contact the Federation office to
register for a free course.
